US, African Militaries Meet to Discuss Cooperation in Sahara

Dakar - Defense chiefs of the United States and nine African countries are wrapping up a two-day meeting in Dakar, Senegal on increasing military cooperation around the Sahara. Foreign Minister about US Forces Command in Africa
Algeria is not concerned

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Bejaoui strongly denied the US, or any other country, requested to set up military bases in Algeria. He adds “Algerian territory is not concerned by the US Command in Africa” the Pentagon intends to create in the continent, early September 2008.
Speaking to National Radio Channel 3, yesterday, Bejaoui said he learned about the creation of US forces command in Africa through the media, adding “it regards the United States alone”.
