Die Diskussion hier ist diesselbe wie vor einem Jahr: wie soll mit der Situation der Entführungen umgegangen werden ? Der Tenor war etwa derselbe und nachdem die "Szene" das Medium Wüstenschiff doch gut kennt, war die Verunsicherung gross genug. Wir wollten eigentlich nach Gambia, zuletzt flog mein Sohn (5 Jahre) samt Frau aus Marrakesch nach Hause und ich fuhr alleine weiter - ohne irgendwelche Probleme. Die Verunsicherung hatte zumindest den netten Nebeneffekt in Atar und Chingetti praktisch allein zu sein.

Genau so funktioniert Terrorismus, Point Afrique hat übrigens gerade seine letzten Flüge nach Atar und Mopti eingestellt. Point Afrique hat es treffend formuliert: AQIM hat die erste Runde gewonnen.

Rein statistisch ist die Aussage, mit sehr viel höherer Wahrscheinlichkeit in einem Autounfall als bei einer AQIM Aktion ums Leben zu kommen, sicherlich richtig - unabhängig ob diese Aussage von einem Reiseveranstalter kommt oder nicht. Jeder kann aber durch sein Verhalten dafür sorgen nicht zu einen AQIM Opfer zu werden und die Maßnahmen sind einfach: nicht Nachts fahren, nicht in entlegenen Gebieten auffällig übernachten, keine wiederkehrenden Gewohnheiten erkennen lassen, keine einschlägig bekannte Ausländerrestaurants, etc.. Mit diesen Maßnahmen ist das Risiko akzeptabel, wer sich aber dennoch oder gerade damit schlecht fühlt, sollte besser nicht kommen.

Die Region ist viel zu schön und die Menschen sind viel zu nett, um Sie AQIM zu überlassen.

Wenn ich in eine zuvor unbekannte Gefahr laufe, ok, dann gilt "zur falschen Zeit am falschen Ort" = Pech

Zu den angesprochenen Sahara/Sahel-Gegenden kann niemand mehr sagen "hab' ich nicht gewusst", und die neue frz. Strategie scheint zu sein "stoppen um jeden Preis" (kann ich verstehen)

Gut, dann druecken wir es anders aus: vom Tourismus abhaengiger Unternehmer.

Sicher kann und soll jeder selbst entscheiden, welches Risiko man bereit ist einzugehen. Ich sehe es aber als falschen Weg, ein bestehendes Risiko aus Geschaeftsinteressen herunterzuspielen.
Der Reisende kann, muss und soll ein klares Bild der aktuellen Situation haben und dann frei entscheiden, ob er seine Reise antritt.

Und ich hoffe noch lange in dieser schönen Gegend mit den freundlichen Menschen bleiben zu können.

es gibt keine " neue französische Strategie" Es gibt nur Geiseln unterschiedlichen Wertes.
Die jetzt Entführten waren einfach für die Organe nicht so wertvoll wie Mitarbeiter von AVERA. Die hat man mit den Entführern entkommen lassen um ihr Leben zu schützen. Nun ist es nur noch eine Frage des Betrages.
Im aktuellen Fall haben französische Einheiten den Angriff "gewagt" und die beiden Geiseln sind ums Leben gekommen. In den etwas unabhängigeren französischen Medien wird ausführlich über Ungereimtheiten in der Darstellung des Veteidigungsmisters berichtet.
Eine der Geiseln hatte zwar einen Kopfschuss, die andere wies jedoch keine Schussverletzung auf war aber völlig verbrannt.
Es ist also nicht auszuschliessen das die Beiden beim Angriff der Sonderkomandos ums Leben gekommen sind.

Allerdings zieht sich die härtere Linie der Franzosen schon durch - zu den verschleppten Journalisten in Afghanistan/Pakisten (wo immer die festgehalten werden) "beklagt" sich AlQ auch schon, dass dad offizielle Frankreich "nicht einmal reden will"
