17.01.2011 - whywe?protest
Libya seems to be a cloudy subject full of uncertainty. So here's a thread to discuss and gather information. I know many anons have been calling for an Operation Libya in the hopes that the protests there could escalate to the revolution status Tunisia's did, but we don't have enough information to see if that's possible... yet ... If we want an Operation Libya, step 1 is to GATHER INFORMATION. Here's what anon has so far ... mehr

Auch im Staat Gaddafis gärt es schon
03.02.2011 - tagesspiegel

Analyst: Libya close behind Egypt
02.07.2011 - onenewsnow
An Australian political and defense analyst says long-time Libyan strongman Muammar al-Gaddafi is quietly preparing to leave the scene and return the country to a monarchy. While the world's attention is focused on the coming political changes in Egypt, Greg Copley, president of the International Strategic Studies Association (ISSA) in Washington, DC, says the country's neighbor -- Libya -- is moving toward a transition of its own after 42 years of Muammar al-Gaddafi's rule [...] So Gaddafi is taking steps to restore the monarchy that he overthrew in a coup in 1969. "He's started to return property, which belonged to the late King Idris, back to the designated heirs of the king," ... mehr

A Libyan writer and political commentator arrested last week and accused of a driving offence appears to have been targeted for calling for peaceful protests in the country, Amnesty International has said.
Jamal al-Hajji, a former prisoner of conscience who has dual Libyan and Danish nationality, was detained on 1 February in Tripoli by plain clothes security officers. They accused him of hitting a man with his car, which he denies.

Drohungen Ghadhafis
