ALEPPO-MERSIN PASSENGER TRAIN TO START ON 13 MARCH

ANKARA - Train services between Syriàs Aleppo and Turkey's southern province of Mersin will begin on 13 March, Anatolia News Agency reported. "The first train service between Aleppo and Mersin will start on 13 March via Maydani Ekbez border gate", Turkish State Railways (TCDD) deputy Director General, Erol Inan, said. "The services between Aleppo and Turkish southeastern province of Gaziantep will begin after land mines on the border zone are swept", Inan declared, adding that "the mines will be cleared within 1-1,5 months". Aleppo-Mersin services will operate twice a week and the train will depart from Aleppo on Mondays and Thursdays and from Mersin on Tuesdays and Fridays. The train will carry nearly 400 passengers, and price will be 18.61 Euro; the price of Aleppo-Gaziantep train service will be 14.84 euros. (ANSAmed).

PASSENGER TRAIN SERVICE BETWEEN TURKEY AND SYRIA TO START

ANKARA - A passenger train service between Turkey and Syria will begin tomorrow, Anatolia agency reports. The new train would travel between the Turkish city of Mersin and Syrian city of Aleppo, a Turkish State Railways Administration (TCDD) statement said. TCDD and Syrian Railways have decided to launch a new train service between the two cities in order to meet the increasing transportation demand. The train will leave Aleppo at 10:40 a.m. and reach the southern Turkish city of Adana at 6 p.m. and Mersin at 7 p.m. The Syrian people who travel on the train will be seen off from Mersin to Aleppo at 11 p.m. The Aleppo-Mersin train will depart from Aleppo at 9 p.m. every Monday and Thursday, and it will depart from Mersin at 11 p.m. every Friday. The train will make reciprocal voyages two days a week. It will take nine hours and 20 minutes to travel between the Turkish and Syrian cities. Consisting of five passenger cars and one dining car, the train can carry 260 passengers.

TRANSPORT: TURKEY, SYRIA TO LAUNCH PASSENGER RAIL SERVICE

ANKARA - Turkish State Railways, or TCDD, will cooperate with Syriàs railway authority to launch passenger train services between the Turkish city of Gaziantep and the Syrian city of Aleppo, Anatolia news agency reports today. TCDD completed maintenance and repair works at part of Hejaz Railway which was built almost a century ago to link Istanbul and Damascus to Hejaz region in Saudi Arabia. Passenger train services between Gaziantep and Aleppo will begin on Friday, TCDD officials said. Train services will run twice a week, on Friday and Sunday. It takes nearly 3 hours to travel between the two cities. Turkish officials expect to carry 1 million ton freight and 100,000 passengers along the line annually.

ANKARA - Passenger train services between Syriàs Aleppo city and Turkey's southern province of Mersin began today, as Anatolia news agency reports. Turkish State Railways (TCDD) stated on Thursday that Aleppo-Mersin passenger train would serve until September 18. The services will begin from Aleppo. The train will serve once a week, and the road between the two cities will take nine hours. The train has 120 passenger capacity.
